The Mobile Switch Center (MSC)Hardening Project is a 24/7, two-shift, mission critical live environment DC power upgrade. The project includes the replacement of mechanical and electrical systems throughout an existing 20,000-sffacility, in preparation of supporting 5G services. LPC is adding 7,400 amps of additional DC power to the site, which entails constructing two new power plants, installing a new battery plant and DC distribution and rectification equipment, re-feeding all existing DC power equipment, demolishing existing office space to provide space for future switches / load, and decommissioning one existing power plant that is nearing the end of its life. All work currently completed has been in a live environment with zero downtime.
