The Mobile Switch Center (MSC) DC Power Plant involved constructing two new power plants, creating space for future load, and decommissioning existing power plants in a live, mission critical environment. The LPC team installed owner-furnished equipment, adding 7,400 amps of additional DC power to the 15,000-sf existing site, installing and placing new battery strings and new DC distribution and rectification equipment, re-feeding all existing DC power equipment, and decommissioning and demolishing the existing DC power plant that was nearing the end of its life. All work was performed in a live environment with no downtime. The LPC team finished a month and a half ahead of schedule with no shutdowns or interruptions for the owner.
